If I were to say 'child molester', most of you picture some derelict old man in the park dressed in a dark colored coat coaxing children to come to him in exchange for some sweets.

You probably wouldn't think of Uncle Mike or Aunt Wendy, the guy next door, the local deli owner, another family member, or trusted work colleague. You also probably wouldn't think of your spouse or partner. These are all possibilities and you must protect your children.

Truth: Child molesters come from all walks of life and from all socio-economic groups.

Truth: Children can be molested by  people they know - relatives, friends, caregivers as well as persons they don’t know.

Truth: Child molesters can be male or female, rich or poor, employed or unemployed, religious or non-religious or from any race.

Truth: Although the majority of those identified and prosecuted for sex offences are men, both men and women molest children.
